4-x/5 = 2(x-1)/11
using 55 as the common denominator
(55)4-(55)x/5 = (55)2(x-1/11
Multiplyy both sides by 55 and simplify
220 - 11X = 10x + 10
+ 11X +11X add 11X to both sides
220 = 21 + 10
-10 - 10 Subtract 10 from both sides
210 = 21X
210/21 = 21x/21 divide both sides by 21
10 = x answer x = [10]

1/2 - x/18 = 2(x +7)/36
Using 36 as comon denominator
(36)1/2 - (38)x/18 = (36)(x + 7)/36
Multiply both sides by 36 and simplify
18 - 2x = 2x + 14
+2x +2x
add 2x to both sides
18 = 4x + 14
-14 - 14
Subtract 14 from both sides
4 = 4x
4/4 = 4x/4
Divide 4 from both sides
1 = x
The answer is x = [1]

4 - x/5 = 2(x+1)/11
(20- x)/5 = 2(x+1)/11{ on taling L.C.M. of left hand side}
11(20-x) = 10(x+1) { on cross multiplication}
220 - 11x = 10x + 10
-11x - 10x = 10 -220
-21x = -210
x= 210/21= 10
1/2 - x/18 = 2(x+7)/36
(9 -x)/18 = 2(x+7)/36
(9 - x)/18= 2(x+7)/36
(9-x)/18 = (x+7)/18
9-x = x+7 { 18 cancels from both sides}
9 -7 = x+x
2=2x
x=2/2=1
x=1

4 - x/5 = 2(x+1)/11
multiply both sids by 55
220 - 11x = 10x + 10
add 11x to both sides
220 = 21x + 10
subtract 10 from both side
210 = 21x
divide both sides by 21
10 = x
-----
1/2 - x/18 = 2(x+7)/36
multiply both sides by 36
18 - 2x = 2x + 14
add 2x to both sides
18 = 4x + 14
subtract 14 from both sides
4 = 4x
divide both sides by 4
1 = x

get the idea? Do the same thing to both sides, over and over, with the goal of getting all the xs on one side and all the numbers on the other.
then simplify simplify simplify

those are piss easy.
question 1_
first multiply everything by 11 * 5, thereby removing the divisions. then group x's on one side, values on the other until you have something in the form x = number. then divide by number to get x.
question 2_
do the same multiplying by 36, since 18 is a factor of 36.

4 - x/5 = 2(x+1)/11
11(4 - x/5) = 2x + 2
44 - 11x/5 = 2x + 2
- 11x/5 = 2x +2 -44
- 11x/5 = 2x - 42
- 11x = 5(2x-42)
- 11x = 10x - 210
- 11x - 10x = -210
- 21x = - 210
21x = 210
x = 10
i hope im correct..
erm if the method u use in school is different then pls ignore=) sorry if wrong ..

take nos on one side and alphabets(variables) on the other
so, 4-x/5=2x+2/11 (first solve the bracket)
then 4-2*11=2x+x*5 (sign changes)
then 3.8181818181...=11x/5
then 3.8181818181.../11=x/5
then multiply tht by 5 and the no(1.73553719) is your answer
