I am a brown-eyed brunette that has always liked my coloring. I have been noticing more and more lately that it seems people have something against having brown eyes, especially women. More and more people are wearing colored contacts, mainly blue. It's like people consider brown eyes "ugly." Why do people have such a problem with brown eyes? I don't get it. Somebody please answer this for me.

Just because I've seen some confusion here and want to clear it up, I do like my brown eyes. For me, I feel they are the best looking for me and the color I like having. I don't plan on changing them by wearing contacts. I'm just curious why it seems that people want to cover their brown eyes and/or that it seems many think that blue eyes are the best.

Not to worry, there's nothing wrong with brown eyes at all!
But, blue or green eyes are more rare, and people think if they change their eye color, they will instantly be more exotic.
This is, of course, not necessarily true. I say, play up your warm & wonderful brown eyes...I'm sure there are many make-up sites that can show you how to make them look their best!

Brown eyes are just as awesome as blue, green and grey eyes. I don't go by eye color(really don't care) but the shape of the eyes thats what really matters. Example of people with brown eyes that are pretty Johnny Depp, Salma Heyek, Winona Ryder the list can go on. Its not eye color that makes eyes beautiful but its shape that counts. Ugly shape= ugly eyes no matter what color they are.

Simple supply and demand.
Brown eyes are COMMON. Blue and green are less common.
Therefore blue and green are more in demand because their supply is lower.
While I don't find brown eyes to be wretched or anything, i like blue and green because I like the "red Irish" and those usually come standard with blue and green eyes.
Contacts are like push-up bras or implants - PHONY.
The others on here are right: natural is the best way to go! Work those brown eyes.

I don't ! I think brown eyes on men ( or women) are very sexy. If I could afford them I'd get contacts that were brown. I f you really do feel that way about your eyes,you also could get contacts(they have some really neat colors now).

I LOVE my brown eyes! you should love yours too. The problem w/ brown eyes is that MOST of the world has brown eyes. So the people who want to change theirs to blue or green just want to stand out a lil bit. They do stand out... it looks fake and ugly. Be natural and pretty... I love my brown eyes... so does my boyfriend :)

I have no idea. I have brown eyes but I LOVE blue eyes, preferably dark blue, but I married a person with baby-blue eyes. Am I a traitor?
I guess brown is boring!!! Brown is the color of things that are natural and thus boring: poop, brown rice, wheat bread, trees, etc.
And brown is also my color. I love that color on people but eyes, how dull. So many brown eyes.

I've got brown eyes too and I love it. Who cares what other people think. I don't. If they don't like my eyes then they don't need to be looking at my eyes.

I don't have a problem with em, and I'm a guy. I guess one could argue that on a biological level, blue eyedness shows less diversity in genes. This, for some reason, is considered attractive to the potential mate for breeding reasons.

i have brown hair and light green eyes and desperately want dark dark brown eyes, but all the contacts are really light. i think brown eyes are the prettiest eye color of all.

What are you talking about???? My eyes are brown and the only time they change color is when my heart is broken then of course they turn blue..
