Defragmentation needs at least 1 GB free space on the drive which your are trying to defrag. If the free space is less than the 1 Gb a message will popup, even thorugh you can still run the defragmentation, but results will not be so effective as the done when free space is more than 1GB.

that does sound odd, dont worry though, if it keeps saying htis, you need to get someone to take a look at it, like i did, mine kept loosing memory and storage. the only way is too by a new memeory chip or a new computer, these days everyone goes for intel pentium d core duo, they are the best and hjave over 3 ghz speed. there will be no problems with that. some computers get old and loose memory, you just need to get a reliable expensive computer from the start instead of lots of cheaper ones.

Are you sure its saying memory and not hard disk space?...to de-frag a volume under XP there HAS to be 15% of the disk space free to hold the temporary files as it 'shuffles' them about. Delete some junk off and try again.

Yes that is true. suppose u want to rearrange things in a box, u need some place to place them other than in the box and then arranging them, u see? ur drive is just like that and windows needs some free memory to put the information and then aranging them. The size ofthat memory depends on how much ur drive size is.

The same thing happened to me yesterday,I was creating a backup with Nero 6 plus I had been downloading videos.A few deletes later(you need 15% of space) and everything was fine. And for the sake of £30 I think I need to double my RAM to1GB,it doesn't stop the problem but it helps.

that's telling you that you do not have adequate room to operate that diverse recreation in the parameters of the gap it calls for. in case you go back and uninstall this technique, that's going to inform you the way a lot area it really is making use of and how a lot that's going to unlock. That on my own ought to furnish you with the suggestions you want to unlock extra room in that diverse section. Uninstall all courses that are literally not at present in use, besides. once you go into the equipment section, there's a element that facilitates you to work out courses that you employ extra typically than others. that's going to inform you once you used it very last, how typically it really is used and, extra importantly, how a lot area it really is taking on. i wish this permits, good success, Rick

it has nothing to do with the amount of RAM. Its how much free space you still have on you hard drive. Windows XP recomends you have at least 15% of you hard drive free.
