You can try that argument.

I can't say it will get you far.

Roe V. Wade is based largely on the assumption that abortion was legal in some areas of the country and not in others. The question is what should happen if you were in a state that it was illegal but came from a state that it was legal. What then?

I remember listening to the ruling when it came down it didn't sound like much of a change at the time.

What has changed since the decision is that clinics and doctors have lowered the bar for getting an abortion, the bar that tell you that the mother needs the abortion. It was never said that abortions should be elective surgeries and yet that is what they have become these days.

Does that make them murders? Could be. It has to be taken case by case.

One case that is striking to me is the Andrea Yates case. She is claiming that postpardum depression lead her to kill her five children. That sounds like an abortion. She killed her babies because she had problems with being pregnant, and yet, they found her guilty of murder. Interesting.

Timing seems to be everything here. If she had taken a morning after bill or an abortion bill then it would have been legal to kill her children one by one. In stead, she drowned them all and went to jail. When exactly did this post partum depression set in? During which pregnancy?

Roe v. Wade would support her aborting at least four of these pregancies, maybe all five, just so long as the doctor declares it medically necessary for the mother, either mentally or physically.

Another thing about Roe v. Wade is that such procedures were supposed to be performed at a Hospital with all its many protocols. That isn't the case today. Most abortions are performed in clinics absent the same protocols. That is not to say they don't have protocols, they're just not the same.

So, is this murder? That's not for me to say.

I will say this, the right to privacy as John Locke put it is limited to the right to commit harm either to oneself or to others. You can find this right within our right to freedom: freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to bear arms, and so on. Abortion stands as an afront to the right to privacy in that it takes little consideration of the harm it does to the mother and to others down the way.

Of course there are the cases where people feel an abortion is okay and I am talking about, rape, incest, and where the life of the mother is physically in danger. Those are special cases to that privacy argument. Are they murder?

Could be.

If you are raped and an hour later shoot your rapist, is that self defense or murder? One must ask themself why are they having that abortion. Is it because of the baby, or is it because of the rapist? Who are they trying to get rid of here? The same goes for incest. What is going on here?

And as for the mother versus the baby situation, is it self defense to choose to kill another who is not choosing likewise? Is the doctor asking the baby to decide? No.

Someone wrote murder has to be the illegal taking of a human life. That is not true. Manslaughter is illegal but it is not murder. Homicide is illegal but it is not murder. What makes a killing a murder is premeditation, the knowing and willing acts of the killer to take another life. That is what makes a murder. And that is what people should ask themselves is that what an abortion is a knowing and willing act to take another person's life, and by person i am not talking about a viable person, because people can live on respirators and other people can be convicted of murder for pulling the plug on them. I am just talking a person in the broadest sense of the word? Is that what is going on here?

A better question would be...If god is the creator and he is against abortion than why would he give many wild mammals the ability to purposely abort a pregnancy because of over population, lack of habitat and food?? Personally I don't believe in god but based on the principals of religion, namely that god made everything and designed every living creature etc...if he thought abortion was murder than why would he create animals that could terminate thier own pregnancy?, or for that matter why would he make birds so that the stronger sibling pushes the weaker one out of the nest to get more food for itself?? why would he make many cat species prone to infanticide? The very definition of murder is the UNLAWFUL premeditated killing of another human being....since abortion is not against the law it is not murder. However it is killing....when you terminate a life you are killing that living being. BUT..... Since a fetus is by all means undeveloped and incapable of living outside of the womb on its own and in most cases is only a collection of cells without any brain, is it really a living creature yet?? That is still under debate and everyone has thier own opinion about it. Personally I dont consider a fetus of any species to be technically alive because it does not breathe or eat or think in an organized manner and really is only a collection of individual living cells that are unorganized and without real purpose or thought except to eventually coalesce and form a real complex living being. Until those cells come together and form a single complex living eating/eliminating being it is not an individual that can be unlawfully murdered. It is only a collection of individual living cells that you are killing. At least thats how I feel...by the way in case anyone wonders I have never been pregnant or had an abortion.

I don't know, but hookers need it to. Truckers, need loving. Knock up a chick, abort the baby. Just kidding. Heard that from some Stand up comedian.

Really, it isn't murder. Murder is out of hate. You're not getting rid of something you hate or out of hate. You're getting rid of something you don't want, and probably can't have due to whatever physical problem the lady has.

But, if I were a female, I'd choose abortion. Why? No reason. Just would. I don't see what's wrong. Yeah, I've had people yell at my face about it, so me facts, blah blah. This world really doesn't need more idiots. If anything, mexicans should have more abortion, damnit. They're crawling everywhere with warefare checks.

An embryo or a fetus is not a person. Therefore it cannot be murder.
Never mind the fact that an embryo or a fetus cannot survive outside the womb. It can only survive so long as it is connected to the mother. The whole notion of calling an abortion murder is just nonsense.

Abortion is technically murder. Nevertheless, abortion is a different crime from Murder under the law although these are similar considering that both involves killing.

It's not murder because murder is defined as the unlawful killing of another human. Since terminating a pregnancy and killing the fetus isn't against the law, it's not murder.

It is a conscious decision made by a woman in the early stages of pregnancy. It is up for debate if it is a human or an embryo. It isn't murder it is a choice.

it is. but it is more wrong to ban it.

there could be nothing more terrible than having to decide to kill your child right? i think that is true. and i think if that is the best choice that someone can come up with, then i don't think i should make it any harder on them. they are already in a terrible place. a pregnancy is no easy thing, and many infants suffer from a lack of prenatal care. help the women who believe they can handle motherhood. and encourage the women who can to bear their babies and give them up if they cannot raise them.

and realize, that in banning abortion, we will look like el salvador. where women do get horrible infections from back alley abortions. and are then thrown in jail. and i think that is a worse way to use our resources. it is not in honor of life.

Roe vs Wade.

The finest minds in your country debated this issue and came to the conclusion that it isn't murder, just like the rest of the world.

It's only the hard-right loony christian fringe of the USA that thinks it is murder, and is prepared to kill people to prove it! Okayyyyy....

Abortion is not murder, by law and by the Bible. No where in the Bible does it say that abortion is murder. And that is probably because Christ / God uses abortion on a daily basis in the form of miscarriage. I don't believe that when God miscarries a baby, he murders. I believe that God is not wasteful of live. And MY GOD saves the life of the fetus in abortion and uses it again.
Any person that says otherwise is trying to limit the powers of God.
Anyone that tells you that abortion is outlawed in the bible will suffer punishment.
Deuteronomy 18:20-22
20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."
21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Jeremiah 23:30-32
30 "Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD.
It is a sin for you to continue to tell people that Abortion is wrong. God calls for you to be put to death for falsely presuming to speak his name in support of the pro life movement. No where in the Bible does God say that abortion is murder. In fact God uses abortion through out the Bible to bring about his will.
I can explain abortion to any person able to understand. I cannot explain it to a Dog, Cat, or closed mind.
God is the inventor of abortion. Presumably God uses miscarriage as abortion to expel from a woman's body a fetus that he chooses not to bring to term. God does this service for all animals, not just humans. And God loves these animals and man when he chooses to abort their fetus. For man, God is capable of giving eternal life in exchange for any child, fetus or man that he takes. This is his eternal love for us.
God arranged things such that no man lives longer than 150 years, then his time is up and he is also offered eternal life. So God offers eternal spiritual life in exchange for death.
And God chooses which fetuses will be aborted. God has infinite power and can choose to eliminate the possibility of abortion and force the birth of any child he chooses. He does this with other animals and he states in the Bible that he is an all powerful God. He is that powerful.
If you abort a child that God wants to live, he can simply transfer that life to another person. It does not mean that you made a wrong choice or that God must live with that Choice. I don't think God would allow Christ’s next coming to be stopped by an abortion that he condones.
Can a person commit an abortion against God's will? Yes. And it would be sin committed under our Free Will.
Evidence shows that many miscarried fetuses are malformed. And others are perfect. So we know that God does not use simply malformation as the basis for abortion. God must use other information. For example, God may know that a person is simply not ready for a child. Or the person may not be able to support a child. Or the child may have been born out of wedlock. Or that another person should raise the soul that he has placed in one person. And there are thousands of other reasons that God may have chosen abortion or miscarriage. One thing is certain; God did not choose "life". Some of us will die before birth and for none of us will live after 150 years of living.
What God teaches through abortion is that there are reasons for man to have abortion. And in the long run God teaches that these reasons make the world a better place.
I believe that a person should pray to God if there is any chance that an abortion is needed for any of the reasons above, or no reason. If God says that it is right, then it cannot be wrong. And anyone that says otherwise is going against God's will. Simply ask yourself if all humans that were ever born were still here today, would the Earth be a better place. I think not. Death is a part of God's plan and it makes his Kingdom a better place; as does eternal life for those who have served God’s purpose.
I hope that you are able to understand the need and purpose of abortion and will not fall into the beliefs of the false prophets that preach the Pro-Life anti God line.
If you have more questions please ask.
