i used to make silly mistakes in exams too. it takes time to train the habit of being careful and going over the answers again. i did not do it, or went through my answers very quickly, so i didn't see how i answered wrongly. but after some time of being coached by my teachers and parents to check for wrong answers (especially in maths), i started doing better.

when you sit for an exam, always take the first moment to look through the whole paper instead of jumping in to answer the first question. plan how much time you'll invest in each section of the paper, depending on the time given for the whole paper and the number of marks for each section.

always plan to finish early, so you have some time (about half an hour) to check through your answers.

when you proceed to answer the questions, keep in mind how much time you have... if you have no idea how to answer a question and think it'll take up too much time to figure out how, leave that question alone first. you can always come back to it later. in that way you'll have extra time to answer that question, 'cos all the time you've saved on the questions you know add up as well.

when you check your answer for a math question, always consider if the answer is logical... for example, in x + y = z, the value of z cannot be less than x or y. this takes training. also go over your calculations again. when you're checking an answer in essay form, look through your spelling.

an additional thing you can do if you've got time is to calculate / estimate how many points you'd get for the paper, based on the number of questions you've answered correctly / think you've answered correctly / don't know the answer to. sometimes that helps too, 'cos you'd look through your answers again.

all the best. :)

i know you do not opt to take heed to "verify afterwards" yet that's what I do, fantastically a lot, and it has served me nicely. What I do is finished the try, which typically leaves me with distinct extra time. Then i go by ability of and do the themes back. If i'm getting an same answer I positioned a verify next to the answer and flow on. If i do not, i do not positioned a verify next to it. I frequently have some extra time after the second one time by ability of the try. on the 0.33 time by ability of I artwork by ability of in common words the solutions that I genuinely have left unchecked. I repeat this trend till I both have checked all the solutions on my try or run out of time.
