yeah, we get ten cents a can here... but many places close to the border check your cans somehow and can tell if they're from out of Michigan. and we have a limit to no more than 25 cans at a time at most places.

Michigan has a law that prohibits that the taking of cans/bottles from other states and the stores here will prosecute
with a fine, jail or both.
Just a friendly warning.

445.574a Prohibited return; violation; penalty.

Sec. 4a.

(1) A person shall not return or attempt to return to a dealer for a refund 1 or more of the following:

(a) A beverage container that the person knows or should know was not purchased in this state as a filled returnable container.

(b) A beverage container that the person knows or should know did not have a deposit paid for it at the time of purchase.

(2) A person who violates subsection (1) is subject to 1 of the following:

(a) If the person returns 25 or more but not more than 100 nonreturnable containers, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $100.00.

(b) If the person returns more than 100 nonreturnable containers or violates subdivision (a) for a second or subsequent time, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both.

(c) A person found guilty under this subsection shall be ordered by the court to pay restitution equal to the amount of loss caused by the violation.

Why would you unless you had something else to do in Michigan... besides wouldn't that be a lame thing to get caught at the border with.. lol... I couldn't imagine telling that to someone. Good luck.... most places in California now the City comes and picks up your cans that YOU seperated from your garbage.. you don't get paid to do it.. but the city makes a fortune....

Typically cans are marked with the names of the states that recycle them. If you take the cans to Michigan but they don't have the correct marks, and they check (which does not always happen, but is more likely near the border), they won't take them.

You probably will be able to in theory. However if you figure your car mileage is worth around 40 cents/mile it might be less cost effective than you think.

Sure, but at 3+ dollars a gallon for gas it really wouldn't be worth it.
