Not a whole lot. We tend to ignore or compartmentalize the truth of mortality through most of our lives, limiting the impact of the realizationo of our own deaths. If we were to 'sense and cognize' this inevitability constantly, we'd quickly become used to the idea. It would become less important to us as it was constant...like breathing, blinking or digesting. Thus, the practical result would be similar to compartmentalization once we'd come to terms and gotten used to this 'constant awareness'.

I think that our cerebral intellectual life possible because we have this mechanism that allows us not to cognize constantly the inevitability of death. It does not mean we are not subconsciously thinking or "cognize" of our mortality. Not only that but our imagination, our world of dreams, creativity and arts are immortal monuments to ourselves since we are aware of our mortality.

Death stays where it belongs in our day to day lives - in the background. If we felt too close to death it would paralyse our ability to live. Evolution made us sensible, not paranoid for a reason. If you are talking just pure philosophical revelation, then my answer would be the same. Who could live with the pressure of having to live every moment as if it were their last? It's all too much for our little animal brains.
