A bried history of time by steven hawkins is what I'm currently reading.
Also, Bill Bryson's a brief history of time is a good all round science book. It's not too heavy, but heavy enough.

asking stephen hawking to write a popular science book is like asking michael andretti to teach a 16 year old how to drive. he can do it, but not as well as someone who knows how to educate well. stephen hawking's genius isn't going to rub off on you just by reading a book by him. find another book that is more to your level of comprehension that isn't necessarily written by someone famous.

try a general textbook of physics/astronomy. they're MEANT to help you learn. if you want entertainment, watch the matrix.

science in history : John Desmound Bernal . it is very good and interesting book.
