Better question would be - WHY caravans at all?

For the cost of a caravan you could take many expensive long haul holidays around the world.

But no - instead people would prefere to pay thousands of pounds for a tin box on wheels that they have to tow around with a maybe more expensive vehicle that they would possibly buy if they had no caravan to tow. They pay daily parking fee's at caravan sites to park this wonderful tin box - and they piss off every motorist on the road in the process.

The location of the door is not the question at all. the question is WHY CARAVANS!!!!!!!

Because the kitchen and the toilet are the smalled parts and share the same water supply. The larger area is for sitting and sleeping. If there was a door in the main area, this would drastically reduce the size.

So that the flies can get in easily and have a munch on your bacon and eggs..

The people at the front will have to boot the window out. Simple.

Quick escape when making 19-alarm chili.

other reasons:
- ventilation
- more available wall space in the living areas.
