I do agree with you.
In addition, I think people who believe in that crap have serious mental problems, especially with intelligence. reconstruction of the past based on one picture made 1500 years after something happened... Insanity!

The Da Vinci code is completely FICTIONAL. The author has stated that over and over again. It is nothing more than a story created by a human imagination. If you take it literally then YES it is blasphemous but again it is not to be taken literally. The author has skillfully woven in aspects of the BIble so as to make it seem as true and real as possible. That is the mark of a good author. Now if we could only get the world to listen and realise it is a work of fiction

For one thing I will not buy the book...and I didn't spend money by watching the movie either. If I get a chance to borrow it at the library ...I will read the book, but only to know exactly why it's considered blasphemous. I heard a lot about it,...but I'm not too eager to read it....because I know it will make me wanna cry...I will probably shake my head so much that i will start getting dizzy every time and finish the book after a year or so. I'm an avid reader, though...I can finish a thick book in a jiffy...but this one will be a "Krampf" (cramp, fit) for me.

Yes, we all agree. But everyone has freedom of expression. Using that loophole, the producer has made this movie. The Bible says that everyone has to answer for his (mis)deeds. Let the producer answer on the Judgment Day. Its not for us to judge. So what if the producer has mixed fact and fiction? It doesn't alter our beliefs. If we are sure of our faith in Jesus and our source is the Bible as the Word of God, then, let hundred Da Vinci Codes be produced and make their millions. The dogs bark while the elephants march. Let them do their bit. Nothing matters except our belief on the Lord Jesus and his Deity in the end.

It contradicts the bible certainly, but you have to remember this is a work of fiction. There are tons and tons of fiction books that contradict the bible or other religious texts.

If Dan Brown were attempting to say "This is how it really was" then we'd have a debate on our hands. However, this is fiction, has been fiction and was not intended to be anything but fiction. His disclaimer at the beginning of the book states that the FACTS about Da Vinci's paintings and the descriptions of buildings and places in the book are real. However, the interpretations and storyline of the book are ficticious.

So to me, there is nothing to be upset about. If its not your genre of fiction and you don't agree with books of its nature, then don't read it/watch the movie.

It would be blasphemous if it wasn't a work of fiction. Think about it--Superman Returns could be taken as blasphemy if considered seriously. Here you have a guy flying around and saving people from disaster. Am I supposed to put my faith in Superman and not God?

Do you see what I mean?

The DaVinci Code is based on theories. The biblical account of Jesus has survived much more than that and for much longer.

The Da Vinci Code is a fictional story like Jurassic Park or The Bible. The United States President is illegally waging war in the name of "Freedom" and using evangelicals' and other Christians' love of Jesus to galvanize them and you are worried about a fictional dramatized Hollywood version of a novel? Maybe you need to reexamine your priorities.

Its an interesting fiction book that gives people a reson to dig deeper and ask why questions about a religion. If the topic were sports instead of religion it wouldn't have caused such a huge uproar. I'm Christian. I read and loved the book. Doesn't mean I believe anything in it. But you gotta give him credit. He did exactly what he wanted to do....he sold books. I think its flattering to the author that the book has sparked so much debate. At the end of the day, books are like tv: don't ever believe everything you see!

I feel it is a great novel, loved it, does not change the way I feel about my religion, and people need to get over it - it is a fictional book and movie, and has some cool factual items intertwined but not everything is factual. that is what fictional writing means, it is not real! the bloodline talked about was concerning fictional characters, and the author has a great imagination, just like the hobbit and lord of the rings, or alice in wonderland, or the wizard of oz, or a thousand other books that do have touches of reality or history in them but that are CLEARLY fiction. It is people's perception that changes the way the book is, not the book itself. Are you that afraid of a book or movie? Or are you that afraid of your own faith? I for one am not, I am confident enough to take things as they are, a work of fiction, and enjoy it as such.

very and dan brown's wild allegations are really superflous at best! i didnt want to waste time reading the book although i did catch the movie and it was pretty damn boring too!

i absolutedly hated the last part when audrey tautou tried walking on water. what a slap in the face.

but anyway, christian scholars have all torn brown's allegations to pieces all over the net and anyway its not his fault too. he's a story teller and a very fine one at that, BUT people chose to misrepresent what he said is work of fiction and exchange fiction for fact, thats what caused the whole hoohah in the first place

It's blasphemous in terms of contradicting the Bible, but to people who are non-religious it's just another book/movie, and not a big deal.
