because he loves him!like small kids who r always quarelling & chasing each other, the next day they become friends as if nothing happened the day before! i beleive tom & jerry r friends!

Tom is a cat & it's in his nature to chase little rodents & creatures & Jerry is a mouse that gets chased by Tom a whole lot. If it was the other way around, then the whole thing between Tom & Jerry would be so screwed up!

Because it's basic nature, and in most of the cartoons portrayed humorously.
Most of the time Tom does get what he deserves, whether provoking Jerry was accidental or intentional, and there have been a few when the chase has been portrayed more as a friendly rivalry, but there was one cartoon when I actually felt sorry for Tom.
In "Million Dollar Puss", Tom inherits a million dollars from his owner's eccentric relative, provided Tom never hurts another animal ever again, especially a mouse. Jerry goes out of his way to antagonize Tom at every opportunity until the cat reaches his breaking point.
"Gee, I'm throwing away a million dollars," Tom realizes at the end of the cartoon as he starts to retaliate against Jerry, "but I'm happy!"

tom is a cat....jerry is a mouse......so instinctively the cat luvs to eat mice....so jerry is always bein chased by the hungry tom!!!!and as a result it is a rollercoaster ride for the viewer....u can hav fun and ROTL always-anytime,anyday,anywhere!!

Tom always needed something to eat so he gave up cat food and wanted jerry as he's main coruse meal of the
day.LOL
