You stay on an abusive relationship. You think you will get that promotion (but u know better). You believe that as long as there is no physical intimacy involved, its not considered cheating. Humans are funny things.We think we are driven by logic but we are not.We do things which are wrong by logic.Because it is in our genes to act against logic.
If you imagine a world which everybody acted according to logic then everybody would be much more similar.This would hamper our development as a civilization , you need different paths to follow even it is illogical.

Reality is difficult. Denial sets pieces of it aside. It is rather the flip side of immediate gratification. Denial allows us to immediately get past a particualr reality's emotional turmoil. We don't get to escape the reality, but we don't live in a condition of expectation for a harsh reality just around the corner, because we are pretending that it's not really there.

The way you put it is just to avoid the real facts. You feel more confortable in a constant denial than confronting the true. You know but you avoid. You have not evolved enough to be able to face your own logic for good of bad. You are afraid of judging yourself.
To avoid facing something deeper than what you see.

You're absolutely right.....(i'm scratching my head in wonder and awe)....but seriously...we tend to accept what is formed or pre-formed in our consciousness rather than accept what is actually in front of our eyes (that is reality).
