how much land is needed for modern industry? How much capital, energy,space is required for a modern industry? How these resources must be utilised in a modern industry?

I agree with the above statement but in regards to MODERN industry the idea of land is lost. With the influx of modern technology comes less need for all those things. The time of infrastructure is behind us. The cheaper the land the better. You can link up and do all you need to from the comfort of your back yard. With so much out sourcing there is no need for inter-departments. Sit back and run your multinational corporation from you double wide.

It's specific to the nature of the industry. Generally the answer is "cheapest from an overall operating perspective". Some land may be more suitable to development, but so far from major transit hubs as to make the transportation costs prohibitive.

Industry will seek to be more capital-intensive where labor is scarce and hence expensive, although this is part of profit-seeking behavior. Likewise, energy and space will be utilized only in a profit-maximizing environment.
