Well, recently I would claim Clinton. He ended his second term with a surplus budget. Sad how he was so demonized for a little affair with an intern. Bush gets praise for starting a never-ending war against an intangible enemy.
Overall though I would claim George Washington himself. He is of course our founding father, the father of the only successful democracy of all time. Quite a suprise that he preformed multiple acts of terrorism to achieve that goal (as reported by the British at the time)
He was more then a national hero, people wanted to make him king but he didn't want that because he knew what he had fought for.
That is why I'm ashamed of this nation even though I take pride in being an American.

Many presidents have achieved so much in different ways. But if you had to narrow it down to the best, FDR or Lincoln would have to be at the top.
FDR for his extreme popularity (serving 4 consecutive terms) and the way he composed himself leading this country through the worst war this country has ever been a part of.
Lincoln for his ability to persevere through one of the toughest periods of our nation's history. Keeping the Union together at all costs, regardless of how unpopular it was among even states in the North, took real courage and leadership that we may never see again. Had he and the rest of our government failed, we could have been living in a much different world today. The same of course is true with FDR.

Of recent presidents, Reagan. Beyond his idealogy, he knew what needed to be done and did it. Plain and simple. Just like him.
Overall, there is no question. George Washington. There will never be another generation with the gifts and talent of the generation of the Founders of this nation, and His Excellency somehow managed to stand head and shoulders above them all. And not just literally. Just study the man, his biographies, both old and new, his speeches and private correspondence, the man was, in a word, amazing. If he ran for president today, even if his historical record was wiped clean, he'd win with 80% of the vote. He truly was 'first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.'

Without any question
Bill Clinton- I am an african and I unlike other people noticed the huge difference in povery, War, politics, nuclear warfare, etc.. when Clinton stepped down and bush took over. Clinton did some marvelous things to this world, but most people see his bad side {evcerybody got bad sides}. He was horny
that is a virtue of god to all humans. Can you estimate by how much the death rates in (not only in America)but for the whole world raised when Clinton stepped down. I think there should be more people like Clinton in this world who promote world peace and Stability.

I still think Lincoln is the best. He had to preside over an incredibly tough time in history and he still preserved the union. That's pretty good.

Lincoln of course. A great man with something in his head, which might be very uncommon today as you probably know.
