I have the crappiest computer in the entire world, I have an hp pavilion, Celeron, with windows xp. As you all probably know it is the slowest thing ever and I am really getting angry. I know I need memory but I don't know how much or what kind (lol, if there is kinds) to get. I don't want to end up blowing up my computer....please help.

Bare minimum for WinXP is 512Mb...

Best to have 1Gb

switch to 512MB ram.. if ur processor is too slow, get a higher processor - i'd recommend Intel P4 2.66 Ghz. Works like a charm.

Some people would also recommend AMD, which i agree is better in a few cases here and there,. but if u're not too much into high-end gaming and animation or any high-usage applications.. go for Intel.

first right click on 'my computer'
click on properties

a box appears which gives your computers processor speed and amount of ram you have
read through you will find in the computer section its mentioned 128 or 256 or 512 MB OF RAM ....if its 128 mb or less then you should upgrade ...and if its 256+ then you dont have to worry about RAM....make sure you have a faster processor like more than 1.1 GHZ which are at present minimum requirements for softwares
