i don't believe in the devil. what that is, is your mind is awake, but your body is paralyzed. there is a part of your brain that controls your body when you sleep so you don't "act out" your dreams...sometimes the brain miss-fires and instead of turning off the paralyzed action...it allows you to wake first and you cant move. you know you are awake, and you see and hear things around you but you cant move your body. its also scary and sometimes you feel like someone is in the room with you.
its normal..I've had that happen to me before..its creepy.

here is a site about it.

No, it that is just a wives tale. It sounds like your having a recurring dream/nightmare. This is often a scenario where your helpless and can't move or do anything. People experience these in all types of different scenarios, with yours being that your still in bed.

Most of the time these types of recurring dreams crop up and go away at different times in your life. They are usually triggered by some physical or emotional circumstance in your life. Figuring out what can be difficult and is by no means straightfoward. By no means are they associated with the devil or evil.

I have a Dreamer's dictionary and it states this about paralysis:
"If paralysis was total, it is likely that you are fighting your conscience over something you want to do and feel you shouldn't. Alternatively this dream could arise from a repressed desire for freedom from responsibility."

Take that for what its worth, hopefully you can apply it to your life.

I've never heard of that before. but that happens to me. It is like my brain is awake and you know what is going on around you but my body is still asleep.
When this happens all that you have to do is relax and concentrate on moving a part of your body like your foot. Then when you have done that for about a minute, move your foot really fast and then your body will be awake but you'll have to hurry and move especially if your still sleepy because your body will fall back to sleep fast if you don't get oput of bed and like walk around to wake yourself up.Another thing is to relax then when your ready, just jump up really quick out of bed. This happens to me usually when i am uncomfortable when i am sleeping, like my hand is twisted the wrong way or something or when I stay up for a long time and I try to stay awake but I can't then it's like my mind is still trying to stay awake as it is telling my body to sleep.

Nope...it only means your body just won't respond. Now, if you feel you need to believe that "Devil riding your back theory" then by all means do. Piece of advice...the devil can't hurt you unless you allow him to. oh, and go see a doctor for that condition.
