it depends on your personality, how long you've been "using" whatever substance it is, if it runs in your family, the underlying issues / reasons you are using, and how willing you are to beat it. a good start would be to research some books at the bookstore... there are countless out there. therapy is an option - there are many professional psychologists and family therapists who specialize in the treatment of addiction. finally, there is rehab. there are so many options.. it is up to the individual to decide which will work best for them. best wishes.

to overcome an addiction you must first want to. only then will any attempt to relieve yourself of that "monkey on your back" bring any satisfactory results. There are no magic pills to do this or at least not by themselves. The only true remedy of any addiction comes from within period...
