Andy Kaufman, and I believe it was all an act. I read Kaufman's friend's book about him.

I have met lawler on many occasions and watched him wrestle live in Memphis dozens of times. I have many of lawlers classic matches on video including the one you are referring to "Lawer vs Kaufman". Heres a little something you may not know about lawler. He is also a very talented artist. He illustrated one of mick Foley's books.
