Yes shows play ALL year round. Sometimes for holidays they'll change the schedule but other than that there are Always 8 performances a week.
Holidays like Christmas are usually incredibly busy so you want to buy your tickets well in advance.
Show wise...it doesn't matter when you go. Actors are more likely to be sick during the winter, so you may see understudies. Summer, actors take vacations so you may get understudies.
Go for it. Broadway any time is a great time!

Broadway shows definitely play year-round, so both times are fine to go if you want to see a particular play. However, most theatres are dark on Monday nights, so check in advance to make sure that you're not there on a night when no shows are playing, as it does depend based on the individual theatre. I've been to NYC in both the winter and the summer, and saw a bunch of shows both times. Both seasons are great to be there, because in the winter New York is so beautiful (especially around Christmas!) and in the summer it's great weather. One thing to remember though is that if you decide to go in the summer, and you want to see a particular actor in a musical, make sure to call the theatre in advance to insure that they are not out on holiday. You definitely don't want to make the trek all the way there and then miss the person you are going to see!
So enjoy, and while you're there check out some of the great Broadway shows they've got. I'd defintely recommend Rent, my favorite, or try one of the new shows that come out every so often. Good luck!

Broadway used to go like school does. During the Summer, they would have summerstock which were older shows - like B material.
But now that Broadway is a big corporate machine, it caters to theatre goers all year round.
I would go in the Winter just because I would love to see the Big Apple with all the snow. I've never been there myself. Have a great trip!!

They play year round. Summer is generally considered the "off" season so there are fewer stars working...but there is always some. Fall/Winter...starting in late September through March is really the season. New shows big stars yada yada

Oui, je crois ainsi. À Las Vegas, la décadence ne sort jamais de la saison et les expositions courent vingt-quatre heures par jour.
