No the jobs in private sector are not secure enough but there are lots of opportunities. You have to update youself in your field regularly so that you should be confidant enough, that you can get job anywhere in you field of specilazation.

Information tech is always needed, but programming is not very secure at all, unless you live in India. With the right experience, knowledge, and work ethic you can be secure in any job in any position.
