Until a baby is at least 6 months old, she should not get *anything* but breastfeeding. (Formula is the *only* acceptable other food for a baby under the age of 6 months old.) Not even a sip of water. Not even a taste of anything. Yes, it could harm her. Giving a baby *anything* changes the environment of the digestive system and increases the baby's risk of developing allergies, asthma (both sometimes life-threatening conditions), and possibly even other more serious health conditions.
I do not intend this to be rude or insulting. Please take it seriously.

A taste? She enjoyed it I'm sure and I --highly-- doubt it hurt her at all. At the very worst, perhaps an upset tummy..
People like to make an enormous deal out of babies not being treated like the most insanely delicate beings ever created. Be reasonable and look at other mammals.
Children in general are in reality quite durable.
Noone seems to -KNOW- anything about when it is the right time to feed baby anything other than milk/formula. Some children start eating solid people foods mushed up when they're only but a scant few monthes old. I don't think that's advisable to the greatest extent since baby's digestive system hasn't developed fully. Example.. don't expect baby to do fine with MEAT or something of that course nature, but that should be evident enough..
Ice cream? It's dairy products, fruit, flavoring, and sugar that even melt down to liquid form. So long as it's not in excess I can't see the harm. Also, when she starts teething it might be a super idea. :)

Letting your baby TASTE something really shouldn't harm her. After all, babies put everything in their mouths as part of discovering what things are and feel like --and you're not giving her liquid plumber, for crying out loud!
I was once appalled that my friend gave her infant a taste of a lollipop but that baby is now 12 years old and she doesn't have any more health or dental or eating problems than any other average 12 yr old!
I'm sorry that some people use this forum as a soap box. I have also posted questions where people have just criticized me and basically called me a bad mom just for asking a question! It's frustrating that those people think they have the entire story of the situation when all you've done is posted a question asking for advice or their opinion. I guess they have a monopoly on the truth that the rest of us aren't in on.
Hang in there, I'm sure you're doing a great job!

allowing your baby to taste is not going to hurt her. all baby's are going to experiment with taste at some point. i have let my young infants taste popsicles as well. just don't over do it, which i don't think you are, because too much sugar can lead to tooth decay (yes even with no teeth, sugar can get down into the gums and start decaying the teeth), and to much of the juice from the popsicle can cause belly ache and some runny dirty diapers. but if you want to see your baby's reaction to a new taste and offer her a new taste and texture, i don't think it is going to qualify you for worst parent of the year. what you are doing is just fine.

Both of my daughters had tasted many soft foods around the same age. Too much can upset their delicate tummys since they're used to fairly bland foods still but a taste here & there won't hurt & helps them get used to flavors. Just remember, try to stay away from the hot sauce! :)

What is the big deal it is just a popsicle. My kids love them, especially on these hot days. Babies get hot too. They are just flavors and water. No big deal let him or her enjoy!

its definetly not recommended that you feed children anything to early as they are still unable to support there nexts properly and it could cause them to choke... what i personally would recommend if you insist on giving your child something like that is to make your own, use some cooled boiled water and freeze it in the home made moulds and let them try it that way... otherwise it may cause allergies later on.

You are doing nothing wrong. I used to give my babies a taste of something cold. They loved the feeling on their gums, especially when they were teething.

Its not going to do any harm, We fed my oldest Ice cream before she was that age. and my youngest grandchild had potatoes, gravy, cranberries and trifle when she was only 6 weeks old. just a taste, mind you, but it was a holiday.
