My wife is pregnant (confirmed by doctor, she had her last period on 5th june and today it is 12th july).Now pls suggest me what precautions we should adopt. Like what to eat, what not to eat, how to seat, how to sleep, sex during this period etc. etc.
We are living alone in a new city and no body is here to guide us so Please gave as much detail as you can provide pls. Thanx in advance to everyone.

This is a question which would take a very long answer. I would recommend buying or borrowing from the library a book like what to expect when your expecting. They help ease your mind. Good luck and congrats!

First and Foremost purchase "what to expect when you're expecting". Its a great book that will help you both understand this journey.

Ok so, she can fly up until she is 36 weeks along, maybe less.
She also cannot eat excessive amounts of salmon, tuna, or swordfish. These 3 fishes although fine to eat occasionally cooked, cannot be eaten too often b/c they are all 3 high in Mercury which could harm the baby.
No sex after 6 months, or until it starts to hurt her.

ok, morning sickness....
the MINUTE she wakes every morning she needs to eat something small, like a cup of yogurt. Then eat another small breakfast an hour or two later. This will help keep you from being nauseous in the beginning of the day. And also eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 big meals, it helps balance you out and keeps you from being ill.

Also, stay as active as possible for as long as possible. Work out, walk alot, exercise. If you are in good shape going in, the birth will be easier. However, if you have any complications follow the doctors instructions to the letter if you need bedrest.

I will advise you to consult a doctor for that...

the most critical during pregnancy is the first 3 months, where the baby is still forming.. 4th month onwards is developing of what was formed. sex is ok just dont stress you wife much ok? stress may cause to miscarriage, we don't want that to happen, No rough sex for mean time. Your doctor may give you a pocket book which shows the development of the baby and what the mother usually experiencing by that period of time. Don't skip any check-up and make sure your wife drinks only the prescribed medicine or vitamins. Taking nonprescribed medicine is bad for the baby. Food, avoid to much sweet foods, drink a lot of milk for the bones and teeth of the baby. should have enough sleep, atleast 8 hours a day. sit the way she desires but when her tummy gotten big, she'll decide how to sit cause its hard for her. she'll find what is comfortable for her, same with sleeping. She can't do any hard work, these may cause to bleeding. but she'll be able to when she reached 5 months of pregnancy. Sex according to studies is allowed upto last week before giving birth.

but ofcourse as i said consult your doctor for that for they have the most reliable answer there is.. Good luck with your baby! My wife is already 7 months pregnant! Its also our first baby! Soon you'll be a Dad. Congrats in advance!

First off congratulations!!! Your wife should eat a healthy well balanced diet.(her Dr. should give her some pamphlets that will explain the nutritional values of different foods and how much she should eat.....ect.ect...) And if her DR doesn't give her them then visit a nutritionist or go to the local WIC office. As far as sleeping goes it won't matter until she has significant bump, then it is best to sleep on the left side.(that's what my Dr told me..."for better blood flow") Now sex..unless you were told no by her Dr then it's up to her. To feel better during the pregnancy your wife should stay active, but not overly active. I took prenatal swim aerobics at the local YMCA with my second child and I felt great through the whole 9 months. Make sure to go to ALL of your Dr.s appointments, take prenatal vitamins, and read the book "What To Expect When You're Expecting" (not sure who wrote it but you can look it up on Amazon.com...Category:books

She should follow her doctors directions regarding vitamins and other pre-natal care. A good diet is important as well as at least 8 hours sleep a night. Little or no alcohol. NO recreational drugs and NO smoking. Sex is fine as long as she feels up to it. Watch for swelling of the legs (put them up if it happens, consult the doctor if it persists). Most of all, keep a cheerful disposition and don't let her get depressed. (Don't worry about the morning sickness...it will pass soon!).

When I was prego I ate whatever I crave but you should ask your doctor. I know for a fact that your not supposed to eat certain kind of fish. You can still have sex up 9 mons of her pregnancy.She going to sleep alt , I mean hell alot. I would suggest taking some class how to take care baby. Good Luck with baby .

Try light yoga and pilates during pregnancy. This way, it won't be difficult to go back to regular exercise post partum plus it eases delivery.

Also during pregnancy avoid inhaling smoke, chemicals and other strong smelling substances. As much as possible minimize makeup, only use light lotion for the skin around the belly and thigh area.

If you like eating chocolates, then you'll end up with less-colicky baby. Based on research findings and based on my last pregnancy.

Reduce coffee intake. I cup of latte per day is acceptable. Alternate with chocolate drink lavished with lots of fresh milk.

UTI and burning sensation when urinating? Try cranberry juice or grapefruit juice - one glass first thing in the morning and another glass before going to bed.

Avoid seafoods altogether no matter how much you crave for it. Mercury content in fish can be passed on to the baby.

Eat lots of protein-rich foods though. Soya milk is good. Roast chicken without the skin is fantastic.

Avoid too much carbo! It will end up as flab. Pasta and sandwiches would be better than rice and potatoes.

I vote for light massage during pregnancy. Ayurveda massage is so relaxing and it helps you sleep througout the night apart from relieving you of muscle stiffness round the lower back, thighs, legs and feet. Just be careful that the heels shouldn't be pressed hard (this is a pressure point that could trigger premature labor).

Minimize your trips to the salon other than for a haircut, but still it's not a good place to be - you will smell in lots of chemicals in there.

Wear shoes and sandals with at least an inch heel but no more than 2 inches.

In between meals, fruit snacks, coffee and other drinks, fill yourself up with lots and lots of water! Being pregnant and constipated can be a terrible experience.

Have a wrist BP monitor handy, and those off-the-counter urine test available at home. Be tested for diabetes, hepatitis, and HIV as soon as possible. Remember that even paracetamols are not safe to be taken during pregnancy so at the early signs of fever drink lots of fluid. Other symptoms worse than fever, call your OB-Gyne. Take your prenatal vitamins plus 5mcg of folic acid till the day you give birth - maybe unnecessary but effective. Continue prenatal vitamins till postpartum as long as you're breastfeeding.

Having said all these, you still need to buy a basic guide book to familiarize yourself with signs of premature labor, actual labor, delivery and further knowledge of self-care during postpartum.

follow the doctors orders and get a book titled, "WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARE EXPECTING". i had it when i was pregnant. it is very detailed and informative. it will tell you what changes to expect with each month and tell you the development of the baby. it was my bible. if you can't find it in a book store, find it on line. it will be a great comfort to you both. there is even a chapter for the father's. it will tell you what to expect in the delivery room and what to do to help her through labor and delivery. congrats!

Do what your normally do. Eat healthy and take prenatal vitamins and an extra mg vitamin of folic acid. This helps guard against spinal deformities.
