Personally I reach around back.
I have this friend who wipes standing up and he thinks everyone else does it that way. He always gives me crap(no pun intended) about wiping sitting down and reaching from behind, though I insist that is how the majority of people do it.

It does matter because if you are a woman you have certain crevices that need nothing going inside that shouldnt.
So, wipe front to back with a moist cloth and then dry yourself.

I personally go down front. Does not really matter as long as it is done well.
