I've thought long and hard and with my knowledge of North Korea and world relations and the past, etc Kim Jong Il is a F'ing lunatic and doesn't know what he's doing like you and I do, if we attack you can bet your sweet bippy he'll nuke us as well by some means and if you know what "Chinese human wave" tactics are from the first (and hopefully only) Korean war with Chinese and North Korean infantry by the thousands charging at platoons of infantry with a more powerful fight-to-the-death mentality than the imperial Japanese of WW2, you would understand that attacking North Korea is a death sentance. The people essentially have stockholm syndrome, an entire people, to this dictator and will fight to the death for HIM no matter what the reason, etc despite the fact they're starving, etc and that added with nukes and the possibility of them teaming up with the enemies we're facing now, seems like a death sentance to me. Just thank Reagan's ghost he came up with "Star Wars" because if we can get those sattelites calibrated, we'll be alot safer and I know I'll be able to sleep better at night 'cause of it.

Not for now in my opinion. The long range missiles is in testing stage and again, in my opinion, pose no threat to the US. I believe they are trying to "catch up" to the US in the technological standpoint in that they are lacking the resources to compete with US sophistication. Although it might be exaggerated, you can see that a strike would go against the UN's negotiations with the North Korea. It would further aggravate the need for North Korea to build such weapons and would bring instability to the world. The best way is to avoid but not disregard the issue, and be prepared to defend against possible missile attacks. Once and if those attacks occur will then we take more deliberate actions. If we do this, then we will avoid the blame game as who started the "war" first and that the US will have the world by her side.

No. There are a lot more countries out there with nuclear weapons. Don't need to start another war with Korea. Don't forget about the last war and how fruitless and non productive that Korean war was!! All the deaths and damage and financial cost and no gain at all and now we are talking nuclear weapons? Blowing up the entire globe? What insanity some of these politicians with out golf to play are chatting about!

This is a rare opportunity for a nation other than the U.S. to take the lead role in stopping the proliferation of WMD's. The Japanese are more than capable of handling the North Koreans and are considering amending their constitution just to handle this issue. I don't not think America should get involved as a first responder. We have very good friends in the Japanese and we should support their leadership role.

No, no, no, no!

If we pre-emptively strike how do you think they will respond? This needs to be delt with diplomatically, thats the only safe solution. Compromise and cooperation needs to be reached.

As of right now they pose no threat to us, why should we threaten them? Its this kind of an attitude that gets us into trouble, some should take a lesson from it.

We couldn't turn them into a sheet of glass. We're talking about a war here. We'd certainly win but at what cost? 30,000 American soldiers, billions of dollars, and a hit in international relations.

Yes, if the Japanese tell us that the threat to their banking centers is genuine.

The Japanse banks have loaned the US trillions in government bonds and corporate stocks and bonds. If they are vaporized by North Korea, the USA has a depression. We have to protect them.

Our intelligence isn't any good. But Japanese intelligence is awesome.

I don't think so. And I believe that if anyone's going to do it, it's Japan. Those missiles fell mighty close to them. They're currently debating changing their constitutional law which forbids them from making preemptive first strikes.

Only if you want to give them the excuse to launch their undetected nukes at you. Worse you would give every country the right to preemptively strike at the US.

America has enough enemies without looking for more by such acts.

While it is quite tempting, I'd suggest for us to keep our focus moreso on Iran. Then we can knock out North Korea.
