I thought I cut myself.. haha... but then it was pretty sucky. I felt like I was wearing a diaper, but tampons hurt too much for me to wear. Eventually I realized that if you don't put the tampon in far enough.. it hurts like hell. So.. yeah... hope everything works out for ya... experiment and find out what works best for you

I got really moody for a few months... I was really easily aggrevated. And for the first 2 years of having my period, I would NOT use a tampon. The idea of shoving something up there just wasn't something I was too excited about. I used pads mostly, but out of necessity and maturity, I finally came to use both. Which is much more convenient, now that I'm older :)
(I was about 13, and my little sister actually matured faster than me and got it before I did... she was 12, so I was expecting it and could ask her for advice and things.)

It was Christmas Eve, I was sitting on my brothers couch and I had really bad stomach pains. I later went to the bathroom and well, there is was! I didn't know what to do, so I just went on with my day. That night my sister-in-law took me to see "You Got Mail" I felt so bad, but I didn't know what to do. That night I went to sleep still in pain. I woke up the next morning and I know I had to tell my mom. So I finally just said, "Look" and showed her my jeans from the night before. She then did the whole mom thing and got me some pads. I hated them, I felt like people know I was using them. My older sister finally showed me how to use a tampon. I was so embarrassed to let my sister see me down there. But after some time I got use to using them. I had really bad cramps every month and my mom didn't believe in Tylenol so I had to use her "Natural Crap". I missed a lot of school over it. Finally when I got old enougth to go by Tylenol I started doing it and it helped a little. Finally when I was 18 I got on the depo shot and I don't have it anymore. It's so nice not having to worry about it once a month.

I didn't get mine until I was 14, so I wasn't surprised, I was waiting for it. Like some of the others, I had trouble using tampons at first. I didn't put them in far enough, so they hurt. But, now it's just a normal part of life, no big deal. I take some IB Profen for the cramps.

i never told anyone this, but my first time using a tampon I didn't not take the cardboard off...I had the whole thing stuck in me and it hurt so bad. After walking around for awhile, I went in the bathroom and took it out...OUCH! I did not wear another one till about a year or two later when some one taught me how to use it properly.

didnt know I started until one of my teachers told me to go to the nurses office and walked behind me the whole way, of course my mom got called so then to late though taught me how to use everything hell it felt like I was wearing a diaper the first time and I was so afraid I was going to have another accident I would never leave the the house without a overnighter on. but it was real weird either I was stuffed up there or my undies were stuffed so I was screwed either way. but time and experience then its just everyday life. But just protect yourself nothing is more embarrassing then to have a accident in school.

For security purposes I started using tampons, I think it is better to use, to avoid those embarrassing leaks. But you have to experiment with them, and the brand that you may like the best.
