Best thing to do is not treat it like a federal issue....any soft non scratchy cloth and some watered down alcohol or vinegar or even plain water dampened cloth...obviously dont spray anything directly on screen and use soft circular motions.

Use glasses cleaner (as in, for cleaning your reading glasses). Spray it on a soft cloth (you can use high-quality paper towel too, aka the expensive stuff), then wipe it over the screen. NEVER spray directly on the screen.

Eye-glasses contains loads of layers of coatings, up to about 75 in the high end. Glasses cleaner is the purest, most effective cleaner you can get that will get the screen clean, without scratching or leaving a lot of residue. It'll remove fingerprints, pop splashes, or anything else that's on your screen.

Spray-on screen cleaner that you buy from stores typically contains a lot of unnessary chemicals and often leaves residue on the monitor (to prevent static effect which is unnessary on modern monitors), and will often cause the screen to appear blurry.

You can buy glasses cleaner either from an optometrist (where you get glasses), or in the supermarket. Here in Canada, I've found the glasses cleaner from Superstore to be the most efficient.

Use a mild detergent, like dish soap, dampen a clean cotton cloth, and gently wipe the monitor down. Be sure to unplug it first, in case you get water on something important. Never use harsh cleaners, alcohol, or bleach on a monitor, it disolves the plastic

What I've read and found works best is to take a soft T-Shirt and get it slightly damp and clean that way. Most other cleaning products are too harsh and deteriorate the anti-glare coating your LCD has.

You can actually buy screen cleaning wipes. Mine are for my notebook, but it will work on any flat panel sort of surface. Basically, they are made out of water and isopropyl alcohol. You can probably find them in any store.
