the transmission will shift into and out of overdrive utilizing the button on the shifter, but the light flashes all of the time. I assume it is a warning of some sort but my owners manual doesn't say what it is! Any knowledge of this, gearheads?

This means that the transmission has a problem and the ECM has stored some kind of transmission code. Get it read by a scanner and you'll find out what the code is for. Mechanics usually charge $70 and some places like AutoZone will read it for free.

I agree it sounds like a floor problem. freshen up the floor cable. also wiggle the battery cables see if it occurs better or a lot less. they could look fantastic on the exterior yet be corroded undesirable on the interior. If that doesn't reason any change attempt wiggling the battery posts. they could get corroded too and in many circumstances even fall out. be careful doing this. it is only 12 volts, in spite of the indisputable fact that it nevertheless hurts in case you get bowled over. All of those issues are quite decrease priced and easy fixes.
