its very legal...you just cant get free music. They think that if you get a free version of iTunes then you'll be more likely to buy music from their site so its kinda a way to advertise.

it was never illegal. All songs cost $.99
You can either buy a apple gift card in the store (Best buy, circuity city, meijers etc)
or you can use your credit card online
or you can gift music etc.

itunes is completely legal. the music you put on to it...thats up to you,but please dont steal music.
