i am upset to see them screwing up by signing these old a$$ fogeys. what about the young players they have? i think they are as bad as the leafs' management. i am curious to see what they do next. i thought they were going to go younger like some of the western teams. but it ain't gonna happen.

Hey there loser Detroit fan, don't go knocking the Leafs because Mr. Holland has lost the edge,Haven't you noticed how old your team has become these last few years, the NHL has passed the aging Wings by,I went through this last season, but unlike your team,we have gotten younger and faster. Maybe you should sign Domi,he's buddies with Belfour

First off, i think they should just use the goalies they have, i'm talking Howard and MacDonald. They are good goalies and they will get better with expierence. Plus Steve Yzerman was not a huge loss. There is plenty of leadership there in Lidstrom, Osgood, Draper, just to name a few. And Shanahan, well...he wasn't doing the greatest anyway. They should try to make a deal with Hasek or Belfour for a year contract to give the young goalies a chance to learn from two of the best goalies of the last generation of players

Haven't they got Datsyuk and Zetterberg both locked up signing them last year? What are you sweating about? What young players have jumped ship? Anyway, three Cups and you're whining?

Geez, the Dead Things mgmt is not even close to being the Make Beliefs mgmt. Kenny Holland has a bit better track record.

I would be willing to bet the Wings will win another Cup some time before the Laffs do...just have patience to see who becomes the next Stevie Y leader.

Well, it was time for Yzerman to retire. As much as I hate to see him go, I'd rather he leave on his own then get forced out. As for Balfour? What the heck are they thinking? That guy was bad the day he walked into the league. Now he's just old and bad. When you don't have the Russian Five and/or Stevie & Shanny at the top of their careers then you need an awesome goalie! A good goalie, like ozzie in '98 will do when you have a great team. But Balfour? Now?? They're crazy!!!

How would you like to be a Blackhawks fan like me.

Now there is the dumbest front office and OWNERSHIP(Wirtz) in all of professional sports.

The Wings seem to be making some bad moves, but with the new salary cap it is going to be hard for any team to stay on top for long.

They may not be as good for awhile but at least you know they will be trying to get better again.

It looks like there will be a lot of star players jumping to new teams every year now and therefore it's all about the money the teams have to spend each season.

The redwings switch it overall with the rangers now meaning that they have the bad luck the rangers had. Losing stevie was a big thing since he was a good captain then after shanny left they aint got that many good peeps anymore. Now they mostly have younger guys which will need to get experience and get better to carry the team later. About the golie they should pick up Hasek if no one picked him up yet since he was a free agen when Ottawa let him go. The redwings have to start from scrath just liek the rangers last year and they did pretty good. i think the redwings will do better since they have such good coaching.

Mike Illitch owns the Wings and the Tigers.
When the Wings are having a good season the Tigers are not and vice versa.
So I imagine its all about spending money one one team at a time. They get the old guys in for the prestige of it right before retirement and thats it.
And to GoBlue we have a great goalie in the Griffons his name is Jimmy Howard he has been recruited for awhile now by the Wings.
Why they didnt bring him up is beyond me.

they are having a hard time w/ the salary cap. also they did lose alot of leadership w/ stevie y and retiring :( and shanahan going to NY. They do need goaltending BAD. the problem is there is no good young goal keepers left. not to mention they need a goalie that can handle the pressure of being a Red Wings goalie.
i would rather they not make the playoffs than watch them lose to a crappy team in the playoffs.

Well Chelios needs to hang up the skates and the Wings need some young blood - though I wish Stevie could have been around another season!!!

Ken Holland is turning into Glenn Sather. Let's see how many stupid signings we can make before we totally crash and burn then try to trade our way out of it. Even thinking of signing Belfour or resigning Hasek is one of the most stupid things they could do and to let Manny go is totally asinine!
