When someone says "I Love you but I'm not IN love with you" it's a cop out. It's their way of explaining why they were in the relationship but now want out.
There is all different types of love, love of your parents, your siblings, your children, your friends... But, the love you are talking about, I think if you are in a relationship, at somepoint most people "fall" in love with the other person. They get to know more about them and over time either fall deeper in love or start to see that this is not the person for them. That's when they use that line. Falling in love is when you are still learning the other person. You see all of their pluses but no minuses. Once you are "in love" thats when you see the minuses, too but still love them because of all the pluses. They make you overlook the minuses.
Make any sense?

I think when ppl say I love you but Im not in love with you, they mean they like you, they care about you but they trully are not fully in love with you.
Meaning? falling in love is when you drop everything for somebody that you trully cannot stop looking at, wanting to be with, doing things with, and probably even wanting to date and marry or live together.
Love? that is a huge question that is not easily answered.
However if you want to really get deep into what is love, buy the book called LOVE by Leo Buscaglia . He is an Italian - American who gave intnal conferences on what is LOVE.
He is hilarious, different, caring, and talks so much about loving people for so many things and with so much detail that you will be so glad you bought the book and will probably buy more from Leo Buscaglia.
You can have love for things, love emotionally, well I'd have to write another book and i cannot compete with Leo Buscaglia, i do recommend you get it. It will answer all yr questions and leave you with such a good feeling that your life will change the moment you read Love by L.B.
Good Luck

Falling in love is infatuation with the superficial mannerisms of a person. It is the romantic love that makes the fireworks go off. Love is something that you feel after you learn a great deal about the other person. You LOVE them for who they are, how they do or handle things, how they treat their family and pets etc. Love takes time.

This can get a little complicated but men or women usually know when they are in love with someone by the feelings, chemistry,or by the way they do things they normally wouldn't do for someone, this can be easily mistaken for infatuation, the difference is infatuation fades and real love does not.
Also, when a person tells you they love you but isnt in love with you , sadly it is time for you to move on, because more than likely he/she has and they know it they just probably either don't want to hurt your feelings or you won't accept it.
Anyways, if a person tells you that they love you but are no longer in love with you could mean they either fell in love with you but no longer are in love, or they never fell in love with you but love you (or care deeply) for who you are, more than likely. Good Luck

Your stomach will be the first to tell you, those little butterflies flittering around in it, when you start to fall in love!
