I loved all the characters in a role playing game once. Don't know that I was 'in love' with them, but I sure did like them a lot. People say it's dumb, but it isn't any more so than falling in love with a character from a movie. They don't exist either, yet people cry over some movies because of what the characters are going through.
Oh, and my role playing game was called "The Legend Of Dragoon." My favorite characters were Rose and Dart.

do you should ask??? i first fell in love with an anime personality even as i became 12! and that became Iori Yagami from King of warring parties. Then i dumped him reason SNK became offered by technique of a few Korean human beings and the tale were given crappy. Then i fell for Rufus Shinra. Then there became Aoshi from Rurouni Kenshin yet i dumped him afterwards. Then Genjo Sanzo from Gensoumaden Saiyuki, yet i dumped him 3 years later. Then there became Kaname Kuran. Then there became Ciel Phantomhive. and now i'm previous... my acquaintances gave up on placing me up with their guy acquaintances :3 cuz i promote off them without delay :D

I have a bunch of crushes on anime characters (Gaara from Naruto/ Sesshomaru from Inuyasha/Ed from fma/Kenshin from Ruroken/Ichigo from bleach...), but to seriously love an anime character? no. Besides, my soul belongs to Gackt ^^
