If you really are a good friend and care about their feelings, just take your friend off to the side and tell them, it is better to be told nicely and by someone you know in private than be the subject of cruel jokes and remarks.Bad breath can really be a problem for some people and some just don't realize how bad breath effects other people.

Just tell the person straight out, I did that one time and the guy totally took care of the problem for a while but then went right back to the usual stinky breath. I felt what the heck at least I got it out of my chest.
