Yeah they get paid a insane amount of money.
However contrary to popular opinion acting isn't as easy as it looks, long hours memorizing all the those line.
Also to be a actor means you give up your privacy. Every single thing you do is watched.
To remain on top you have to be perfect.
I wouldn't ever want to be an actor, because I couldn't handle all that goes with being an actor. Yes, they are paid way too much. but I can understand why.

Oh thats because the poor lil actors have to get up early for about 6 weeks total, and sometimes have to work more than a few hours a day, & they get stressed over their job sometimes. Some must even go without their cocaine for a whole day , or the women may have to actaully keep the cashew they ate for lunch down and miss an all important pedicure or cut their spa visit short; due to all that hard work of reciting lines... OH THE HUMANITY I just dont know how I would be able to ever handle it all! If all that hard work doesn't deserve $40 million a pop, I dont know what does!

It actually takes quite alot of skill. The actor has to be totally believable. The actors sell the film, so if it is a big production, the actors are intilted to big bucks, as the movie may not have been as good without a good performance from the particular actor. Some huge hollywood stars have taken on roles even if they are only getting paid a mere $200,000! As it enables them to use their skills by playing characters that interests them. Actors are constantley in the spotlight, and if they weren't rich, we probably wouldn't be as interested in them!!

you must have very very bad taste in movies. What do watch "That's so Raven", and other stuff on the Disney channel? Acting takes talent, training, focus, and dedication to the roles that they play. Only the good actors make tons of money.

The vast majority of actors are not paid huge sums of money. The ones you obviously mean are the stars who have been lucky enough to be in major successful productions. They are not necessarily the best at the job and many of the less egotistic ones will admit that.

It's not as easy as it looks. When you're shooting a movie, 18 hour days, seven days a week are not uncommon. Not everyone has the fortitude for such a grueling schedule, much less maintain what skill they have for the duration of the shoot without getting burned out.

Good acting is a skill. I admit there is a lot of rubbish out there, but that's true of most jobs

Because the pretty ones don't have to do much acting (actually, a complex skill), because they get attention naturally. If you can garner alot of easy attention, somebody will find a way to get everybody to drop $10 because of it, (a side a effect of capitalism.) It's called spectacle.

Like any job, you get the big bucks because your last job was such a big money maker. $20 million up front for $500 million after video .
