what if all people were allowed to do that just one wrapper out of the car...

That would be hundreds of millions of wrappers onto our land. Why destroy the beauty of nature because of being lazy?

We should adapt the way of Native American Indians that respect land, and only use it as needed...

When you go camping, or into the forests....try to make it like you have never been there at all by cleaning up after yourself.

This land and its beauty depends upon laws that protect it against littering...not only for this generation, but future ones to come....if we are so lucky.

A candy wrapper is plastic/flexible meaning, it is not biodegradable (capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms). It will last for a very long time.

It may find its way into the sewer system and block it. The ripple effects of such blockage includes threat to health, pollution, diseases etc.

To plants, it can cover the shoot of a young tree and stop it from photosynthesis.

It becomes a nuisance and clouds the beauty that naturally exist in our environment.

It is because of these possible dangers that dumping policies are put in place to provide a benchmark for the disposal of solid waste.

Worthy to note is that the UNDP has taken initiative to work with organisations, industries and countries to tackle the issue of solid waste management through providing proper infrastructure (such as transfer facilities, and systems for waste separation) and to put in place policies of a strong reuse and recovery industry. Thus it is a global issue generated from as lower as at individual level to the multinational manufaturing companies.

Well, the wind will carry it somewhere. It could eventually end up in the ocean or in one of several hundred rivers and creeks that empty into the ocean. I saw a picture in National Geographic where the LA river empties into the ocean. I giant netting device is set up to catch all the trash before it reaches the ocean. Total shock!!! This net keeps up to 200 cubic yards of junk a year out of Santa Monica Bay and plenty gets through it says killing animals and polluting the water.

We have mega millions of people int this country and if all of them throw out candy wrappers the woods will be full of ugly, disease causing candy bar wrappers. If we add the rest of the garbage we will be overrun with ants and rats. Rats carry disease. So lazy person take it home and file it in the trash!!!

It would add to more garbage causing the ozone layer to rip making the world hotter and more sun rays would get in so we would be exposed to ultra violet rays making us have Skin cancer and at the same time creating global warming. Which would melt the ice caps and cause us to drown....and go into an Ice Age(that's what some scientist say)

The average person creates 16 garbage trucks full of garbage each year.

It's not what that one little peice of garbage does... it's what happens when everyone does it.

Give a hoot, don't pollute
