I have a friend that had the SAME problem. She got some proactive facewash and it REALLY helped her complexion clear up. It took her a week or so to clear up but the difference was very dramatic. I'd definately reccomend it.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I went through the major acne phase of being a teenager not too long ago myself. This was after I quit Proactiv. I swear, if it really works for you, make sure you don't mind spending 40-60 bucks every month just to ensure you can have clear skin. I quit Proactiv 'cause it gave me acne marks, though my skin was pretty much clear. Anyways, what really worked for me was going to the doctor. Yes, your health doctor. I was thinking of getting a dermatologist, but then the doctor prescribed me some medicine that REALLY, like HELLA worked. He gave me these antibiotics (pills) plus some other cream. The pills worked so much that I never really needed to use the creams he gave me. The pills are: Ranbaxy MINOCYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE. Yes. If you have the right medical insurance, I am pretty sure your doctor can prescribe you this. Right now my only problem is getting rid of the acne marks Proactiv plus a series of popping pimples caused. You can e-mail me anytime if you want more information =) Oh yes, thanks to the pills, I don't really need to get some expensive brand acne cleanser. I only need to use a regular kind of cleanser. Right now I'm using ST. IVES APRICOT SCRUB. It's pretty good.

Ok. . .here ya go! I went to like 3 dermatologists and got different stuff from all of them. I hated it all because nothing worked. Try this "at home" way.
1. Clean your face with anti-bacterial hand soap twice a day.
2. Use Clean N Clear astringent after washing. (the red bottle)
3. Before bed, after the first 2 steps, wipe your entire face down with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball. (it hurts, but its so fast at drying up acne)
4. Cover your face with a small amount of Clean N Clear blemish treatment (the white tube, not the clear tube)
I don't know how I came up with this, but it works!! Also, try to avoid touching your face during the day because that's a big cause of acne in the first place! Good luck!

i had acne a few years ago and it was horrible.. you have to have confidence in your dermatologist.. Accutane is a very good medicine but it needs time to heal you. You cant expect immediate results with any other drug. Acne Medicine that is sold on tv and such is horrible and it has bad side affects. Stick with the accutane, you might have a genetic problem that causes accutane to heal at a much slower rate. For some people it can take up to 3 years for it to heal and for others.. acne will stay with them for an extended time because of their genetic build. Just remember that its not permanent and that acne does not define your personality

I have never been completely clear of acne but acne free has work the best for me. It is a cheaper version of proactive, it has helped me clear up my skin. My skin is not perfect but that is because I don't use it continually like I should.

If your skin is oily, you can apply tomatoes to your face. It counters oily skin by absorbing surplus oil and also helps get rid of pimples and acne. Apply undiluted tomato paste to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm, not hot, water.
Good luck hun xx

is there a specific reason you dont want to use acutane? Honestly, it really depends on the person. For me personally proactive made my skin much worse. The only think that has worked is Acutane. Good Luck with whatever you choose<3
