I will be having car repair work done and I am told it is the timing chain -- is that expensive ?

Price depends on the car and how much work they have to do to replace the timing chain. Too bad you can't have it done at a auto repair school . They only charge for parts. In today's world all auto work is outrageous.

yes, because it is an internal part but not nearly as much as if the timing chain breaks. The car better have well over 100,000 miles or I would wonder how the repair place has determined that the chain is bad.

what type of car....generally the timing chain itself will not cost a ton, usually around or under $100. But depending on who is installing it the labor will probably cost more than the chain itself by about 50%.

the timing chain is not expensive but shop around for the best prices bc alot of people like to rip off customers for labor charges exspecially to women but as far as the part itself, no not expensive at all but if its messed up anything else due to this prob it might get expensive but most likely not so no fear it isnt a bad scenario at all just dont get stuck with a high labor charge

will be expensive but not something you can put off... a broken timing chain means 'no go'...

make sure you have a reputable repair shop put on th enew timging chain... if they do it wrong you will REALLY have an expensive repair on your hands...
