They grow a product that they KNOW kills half a million people a year. That sounds like providing a gun to a known psycho killer....

TOBACCO doesn't kill anyone, it's the additives and chemicals that the cigarette companies put in it that kills people. The tobacco farmers are just in it for the money, like everyone else. They need a living too. But in the end, it's up to the consumer anyway. If they CHOOSE to smoke, then it's not the farmer's fault, or even the cigarette company's fault, it's theirs.

I agree with sarahmusichomicide's car analogy though. Cars kill almost as many people each year as smoking does (but still less), but that doesn't make the car manufacturers murders, it's the drunks behind the wheel and the speed-happy teenagers.

Actually, tobacco itself isnt as bad as what the cigarette company puts in AFTERwards. The additives (not all) included are

Carcinogenic
Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH)
N-nitrosaminous compounds
Aromatic Amines
Trace metals
Promoters
Catechols
Pyrenes
Co-carcinogens / Potentiators (not present in Cigarette smoke)
Asbestos
Alcohol

I would think that these additives are what really cause all the side effects of smoking. And people CHOOSE to smoke. Farmers dont force people to smoke. It is a choice people are given. You know the facts, but if you still do it, then you are only killing yourself.

You think the food we eat now a days are better than how they were 30 years ago? Again, all those additives they add to make food last longer. All the steriods they give animals so they can produce more. Thats why people are fatter now a days. Its like they add something in the food to make us want more!

thats a great question! well are mcdonalds, kfc and other fast food places killers cause their food is high in fat and sugar which could cause high cholesterol and lead to a heart attack and cardiac problems is the leading cause of death in the world? yes you can take the horse to the water but you cant make it drink. in a murder that person that gets killed has no choice. smoking or eating unhealthy is a conscious choice you make, you know the risks but still you decide to take it. so arent you in a way killing yourself??

Yeah I think they should stop making and selling cigarettes, drugs, etc... but it won't happen because the people addicted would go crazy. Plus, people would illigally sell and buy it anyway. It IS, however, the buyer's choice to use it, so they are the murderers, not the farmers.

I live in America and the last time I checked, we had freedoms. You don't like it, don't do it...simple as that. Caffeine is the most abused drug by the way. There are many things that kill you. The inevitable outcome of life for everyone is....DEATH!
Sit in the non smoking section and leave us alone. I appreciate my freedoms and I'm sure you do too. Deal with it.

i agree with you...that they are responsible for killing smokers. however, i DO think it's the smokers fault for buying the junk in the first place. it's always our choice. however, the growers put the temptation out there. and God always said to FLEE TEMPTATION. b/c of farmers that grow the stuff, it's everywhere. you can't flee something that's everywhere. (i'm personally not a smoker). i hope this answer was good...even if it's not worth the points!

uh. no. its their job to grow tobacco. think about the people in the military who are required in their job to create bombs. Are they murderers too? what about people who make fireworks, so that every fourth of July you can sit and watch them? So many people die because of firework related injuries, does that mean that those who make them are murderers? what about the drug companies who create so many medicines to help people and keep people alive, what about when someone dies because they had a reaction to the medicine? does that make the company murders? what about the people who make steak knives for a living? just because someone stabbed another person with the knife that they made and killed them.. does it make the person who made the knife a murderer too? think about it and then answer for yourself.

They are just as much of a murderer as any one who drives a car. I can smoke for 30 years with no ill effects. I can't breath car fumes for 30 min. with out dying.
