I was thinking the Cavs could trade Gooden, another bench player, and some money for Kevin Garnett.

Really, when did the T Wolves "repeatedly say" that they would only get rid of him for Kobe or LeBron? Yeah that hasn't been said once, at least not to the media.
KG to the Cavs was even mentioned on SportsCenter a couple days ago, it's a little farfetched, but it's possible. The question is do they have a chance, and yeah, why wouldn't KG want to go to a contending team. LeBron would love to have someone that would help him win a championship. That's what you need. Examples: Dwyane Wade & Kobe Bryant - Shaq, Michael Jordan - Scottie Pippen.
I would say probably not as of right now, but it's possible.

Is this what you were thinking? Well, maybe you should, while you're at it, go tell the Cavs front office that you need to be their new GM? Because anybody who could get this deal done is worth about $20 mil a year, I think.
The Cavs have about as much chance of getting KG as I have of signing with Cleveland and sending LeBron to the bench.

If they start a fantasy league in the locker room, one of the Cavs will get Kevin Garnett, otherwise it ain't happening.
The Bulls and Celtics are the only teams with enough young, affordable assets to get Garnett.

maybe Lebron said he wanted another good player on the team KG could be the man although he would eat into Lebrons points but if they want a championship they need anothe player for Lebron

Not unless they're willing to give up LeBron. The Timberwolves organization has repeatedly said that KG isn't going anywhere unless the name's Kobe or LeBron.
