Everyone loved the city before the big Katrina Hit because it was a party city where people had fun every night and day. After Hurricane Katrina everyone I know said that it will never be the same and I think that the city will come back to life

I lived there all my life, not a great place to live, very filthy and crime ridden and full of corrupt politics. What you see on television is so glamourized- it is not the truth- it really isn't even a nice place to visit. You have to be too drunk to care about the bodily excrement and trash in the streets and to smell the stench. Fortunately I moved away 2 years before the hurricane- a lot of family members were affected but are all okay. I have not been back to visit nor do I really care to.
The crime that happened after the hurricane was nothing new- the hurrican did not bring this out in the people there- it only pulled back the curtain to expose what already existed. I really don't believe that much is going to change as many people I know and know of that lived there plan to stay or go back to stay- there is such an oppresive hold there and the corrupt politicians that help pepetuate the attitudes and problems that drive the sin in that city I dont think it will be long before the curtains close and darkness prevails again. You could not pay me to go back.

ps - Classy, what you saw on CNN and most of the liberal mainstream media was only a fraction of what was really going on. LOTS of rich people around that area and all the way to Mississippi lost a lot- lots of them were just as stranded and just as at the mercy of this hurrican as the poor people. The federalgovernment did what they could in the circumstances they were presented with the only people who made this about race and wealth was the media- there were so many places, "high class" places that were devestated- they just did not show them on the television- what was shown on tv was a big political farce.
A lot of the 'poor' people were presented with help and complained and griped about how they were being helped and what they were given was not good enough. People were at the superdome giving out free cokes to the people stranded there and they were being told they were not wnated because they were not cold! These people had nothing and many (not all) poo pooed in the face of many that were trying to reach out to them, all the while a lot of rich white folks were going through the same thing and you barely saw their faces and conditions on the news at all.

I grew up there and left in '91. Have to agree totally with Worshipful H. It's a bad place to visit and you don't want to live there. Reasons being in this order: 1. CRIME 2. Weather sucks. Summer 6 mos. / yr - hot and humid. Even winter can be ridiculously warm. 3. Totally flat - I like mountains or at least rolling hills 4. Dirt and stench 5. Middle class to wealthy locals tend to be very closed minded and ignorant. Very high percentage have never or rarely traveled outside even New Orleans. The wealthy locals actually think they are some kind of European royalty. They won't travel outside of N. O. because others will discover they are functionally illiterate and will be looked down upon.

The one positive I can say is that the food is good. Wish I could get a soft shell crab poboy where I live.

They being the government should have done something years ago, and they could have done more before Katrina, I really felt bad for those people and what they had to endure and my heart goes out to them, not enough with all the crime as it is and then to have no help is even worse and to watch people get sick and be dragged out of their homes and then be all packed in like that and I think more should have been done by the government. I was deeply saddened by all of this and every time I think about this it saddens me,hope no one ever has to go through this kind of devastation again and If they do I hope the government helps, but I think if it would have been rich people they would have been right there to help

I have often considered renting a van with a bullhorn, driving through the downtown area playing The Scorpions "Rocked You Like A Hurricane" at full blast. But, I also don't want to be murdered.

i imagine that's humorous how human beings say they could walk in the adventure that they did no longer have the money to leave. ought to you fairly commence strolling from a hurricane it extremely is shifting swifter than you could walk? ought to you fairly? i do not imagine so. If those human beings easily KNEW what befell extremely of lecturing about grammar and undesirable training, they could do not ignore that multiple those who stayed behind were the elderly. multiple older human beings can not force simply by undesirable eyesight, wellness themes, and for this reason would not be able to stroll. So allow's purely placed that aside. that's astonishing how those that were born right into a fairly strong difficulty (strong family individuals or threat to bypass to a extra perfect college) so surely choose those in a thoroughly distinct difficulty. human beings have duties or issues preserving them decrease back that are previous their administration. you could not choose till you've been in somebody else's shoes. The community authorities became "whining for help" someone suggested.that is awesome. also very mature. They were asking for help because they KNEW they couldn't manage something this large on their very personal. the federal authorities had a fail information plan waiting acceptable? OH WAIT! BUSH (in all his glory) employed someone with journey in elevating horses to guard emergency making plans. He also denied help from different international places. Why human beings hate New Orleans? that's the shortcoming of information of by no potential vacationing a unique city. it is also an mind-blowing thanks to judge our us of a. How we manage those in want fairly says something about us. that's disgusting and unhappy. i understand in my opinion I went to New Orleans to help my grandparents rebuild their living house. I donated as a lot as i ought to to the pink bypass and also chanced on water, clothing, etc to deliver over. I did what I felt became needed and that's unhappy that others did not help slightly extra. no longer that i'm a saint or to be recommended regardless of the indisputable fact that it would not take a lot to help someone.

I have never been a big fan of New Orleans.
I hate all that happen there but I don't feel any different. It's HOT there and I'm not going anywhere any hotter then where I'm already at.
