The brilliant Syd Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd, passed away just a few days ago. His funeral is to be a quiet affair for family and friends. Would anyone like to say a few words for him here? Eulogize or pay homage? I will miss him and continue to remember him through his work, and I hope he lived his later years as peacefully as neighbors have reported. Rest well, Syd.

Roger said it best years ago... "Shine on you crazy diamond".

I think maybe for us fans, we should accept that it's a better thing. This world, this life, was never going to be enough for someone like Syd.

(and an aside... I know Syd did a LOT of drugs, but his death wasn't drug related, and neither were his mental health problems. To blame the drugs for what happened to Syd is to draw attention away from where it needs to be in the treatment of mental health.)

Also Known as "Syd the Beat"...from his early Teen Years....to why i have my Email Address as of course Syd_Da_Beat will always live for Me from songs like "Bob Dylan Blues" to "If It's In You" He Will Live Unforgottenly......His Subsequent Decline on the Use Of Drugs was his escape from this *&^*@ World we live In ....I truly believe he is a major part of his influence not only for Established Musicians "like Bowie" but For the Originality of Creativity without the sinical presence of Non-believers of "Real Music" a Poet For Life, A Nomadic Artist....Now in closure with a Legend I Say Rest In Peace SYD!!! "........Wouldn't You Miss Me.......Oh Where Are You Now Syd ....my head kissed the ground...treading the sand.....Please, please lift a Hand .....and always remember me........Que Viva El Sid.... Syd Barrett touched many lives with his brilliant musical/lyrical talent. He will be very much missed and those that had the opportunity to see him perform live are so lucky. And shine on he will...

I'll use Roger Waters words to pay homage to him
'Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!'
