there are soccer being contested in the Olympics, currently 16 teams will be played in the Olympics. soccer has been the Olympic event since 1908.

qualification will be similar to the World Cup where respective confederations will be allocated their berth, host nation will get the automatic berth.

the Olympic soccer event is only restricted to under 23-squad but 3 player over 23 can be included in the squad.

ARGENTINA won the last summer Olympics soccer final in 2004 beating PARAGUAY in the final. Ironically, this is ARGENTINA's 1st first gold medal & PARAGUAY's first silver medal in the competition.

BRAZIL may have won the World Cup 5 times but they have yet to win the elusive gold medal in Olympics soccer event. they have only won silver medal in 1984 & 1988 as their best achievement in Summer Olympics.

there is also women's soccer at the Summer Olympics when it first began in 1996. UNITED STATES won the 1996 & 2004 edition, while NORWAY won it in 2000.

Yes. Football is one of the contested team sports in the Summer Olympics. Teams has to play in the qualifying tournament, like that for the World Cup. Since 1992 all football players representing their country in the Olympics must be under 23 years of age.

And Women's Football has been added to the Summer Olympics since 1996. The women's tournament is contested between full national sides, with no age restrictions.

nicely Europe's league became produced from NFL gamers. Canadian football has some ameliorations yet is like the NFL. My answer to that is common, ecu football isn't something like American football. So international places ought to ought to come mutually and create something of an Olympic variety of the game. anybody ought to ought to agree on the guidelines, uniforms, padding etc etc. which may be thoroughly ridiculous because someone ought to prefer to operate or take something remote from it and no man or woman should be able to agree.

Yes, under 23's play in the olympics -
so you do not see many famous starts in the olympics, just some names who have the prospect of making in the real team.

"But with the tournament only open to players younger than 23 (and three older than that per team) "

So only 3 players older than 23 are to be picked , else all other players are younger than 23.
