after a game pitchers will usually run some long distance to make their arm feel better. how does running make a sore arm better?

I dont really get ur question. if you mean, literally, "running", then well, they dont. If you mean, leaving the game, well then it is either because of poor performance, or exhaustion. think about it, its kind of hard throwing 115+ balls, at 90-95 MPH.

It's because they're not running around so much and they need to get the blood flowing. I think that's why, I'm a closer so I usually throw 9 pitches a game.
