I attended Penn State. Great school. However, I didn't finish at PSU-- rather I went on to graduate from another much smaller university. My experience was that the smaller universities had better student teacher ratios. I got better more personal instruction.

So I think it really depends on what you want out of school. The big party -- university experience...lots of students, lots of activities...PSU is great for that. You just can't beat the college football games on Saturdays.

From a class perspective, I'd prefer a 40 student freshman class with a professor teaching versus a student aid with 400 students.

That's my 2 cents.

Depends on your goals for college life and what your definition of "Good" is. If you want the prestige that comes along with going to a top notch school then Penn is for you. If you don't really care where that degree comes from as long as it gets you a job, and you don't really want to spend a lot to get it, then I would say pass on Penn.
If they have a program you really want to get into that needs the prestige, like you want to graduate from the Wharton School of Business then go there. But you need excellent grades and community service.

If you want a small school, one with better student:teacher ratios and one that costs less than I would suggest you go somewhere else.

Yes, Penn State was rated in the top tier in the annual and popular US News and World Report latest two issues. I have friends who went there and loved it too. All of the departments are good.

Yes, I do. But before you start filling out applications to college, you might want to learn how to capitalize your sentences and spell the word "GOOD" correctly.

Expensive, but good. If you have a relative that is an alumni I believe you can get a worthwhile discount when you decide to go.
