The older you get, the busier you are. This tends to make time fly more than drag. Also, consider when you're 10 years old, Christmas was an experience you'd had only 10 times, most of which you don't remember. When you're 20, you've experienced (and remember) more Christmases, and they seem to come quicker.
It's even faster when you're trying to make something for everyone on your Christmas list, or when you've got children. I honestly don't know how my mom made Christmas so magical when I was growing up.

Wow yes. The years just seem to pass by and I wonder where the time has gone. Part of the problem, I think, is the fact that the retailers start pushing any given holiday 3 months in advance. The stores here have had back to school stuff out for a couple of weeks already. Christmas stuff starts appearing, in some cases, at the same time as the Halloween stuff. It makes you feel like you're on a fast roller coaster with no way to get off.

Elderly people complain about the same, that the time passes more quickly year by year. Perhaps you are living a too hectic life.
There aren't so many must and have to do as one think, take it easy and relax. When it goes too fast I use to go to some lakes or river deep into some forest-areas for camping, fishing, walking around, listen to the silence and doing nothing. If I am lucky, a lynx may pass by or a moose or a deer, but very seldom a wolf or a bear - the days becomes very long indeed as one can do a lot by doing nothing.

First of all, I see your name is "avid reader". I am too..I gobble a couple a week usually.Unless it's pretty long. It is not just you, it seems that the older you get, the faster the years go by. When I was in school, the time I was in school seemed to last forever! Nowadays, it seems the school year lasts about 6 months! It's pretty crazy and it happens to us all.

Last year the first commercial I saw that mentioned Christmas was on October 17. It was about Christmas tree lights. I'll be looking a round then to see if I can beat that date. And when I was a kid, you NEVER saw Christmas stuff sold at Halloween!

I agree with you. Time seems to be rushing thru. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I am definitely not prepared every year especially since I have a 1 year old who seems to want everything in the toy store. God bless.

It isn't just Christmas....it's everyday. Funny how when you're a kid time just drags...it's forever until your birthday arrives or Easter or Christmas.....now I find that we just finish putting away the Christmas decor and we're dragging the boxes out of the basement again!
Mom always said that time passes more quickly as you age: she was right. Maybe it's because our lives and brains are so busy that time whips right by us.

the older you get the quicker it comes and the less prepared you will be for it. *side note... the less of a big deal the world seems to make about it too. the thought just saddens me with all the sales starting at 4th of july, but no cartoons or other fun christmas things.

Every year goes by faster it seems. The older you get, the more you have to do, the less time you have to sit and "wish" for Christmas to "hurry" (like when you were a kid). It really is true what Mom used to say...."The older you get that faster time goes by."
