An ideal way is to place the crystal under the cold tap and turn the water on so it flows over the stone/s and down the plug hole, this will take out the impurities and leave the stone clean and revitalised. Another way is to leave it on a sunny windowsill and let the suns light cleanse it.

A good way of checking the stone is to dowse it, hold the dowser/pendulum over the crystal and see what happens, the pendulum should pick up a clockwise swing, if the crystal is dirty then it could be a slow or a small swing. Cleanse the stone and check again, there should be a noticeable difference in the energy of the stone.

Sometimes crystals that are not cleansed will break.

No, dust will not affect their power. Rinse them off, and if you feel like they need to be "recharged," put them in sunlight for a few days.

Some people say to cleanse them with salt, but be careful about that, because some (like labradorite) can be damaged by salt. Just dust them off, rinse them, and recharge them in the sun. Or use them as is - dust is not a big deal. I usually just dust mine off and that's enough.

Use sea salt to cleanse them with. Then rinse & recharge with your own energies. If you can, place them outside at night under the next full moon to recharge.

No, just "re-attune" them to yourself when done. Hold them until you feel they're ready, then put them back.
