No. He has appeared in some quality independent movies that will make his family proud for decades to come... but that doesn't really help him right now when he has two kids who are a little too young for "Blow". So him turning into Captain Jack Sparrow, which happened to be a much bigger hit than anyone expected can hardly be seen as selling out.
If he had a track record of doing bad movies for big money, then sure, he'd be a sellout, but he's actually the opposite. He believes in his work and doesn't really care if it makes a dime or a 120 million, just as long as he feels his artistic vision has been achieved.

Sell out or not, he is gorgeous. I don't really care about "Pirates of the Carribbean," but my husband and son LOVE those movies. I guess A LOT of other people do too, as it hasn't done too shabby at the box office. I don't think that it would hurt the ratings for the third part of the trilogy to have a Johnny Depp nude scene in it.

Sometimes it seems like he has a split personality. I read an article where he said Americans were like dumb puppies and he was moving to France because he couldnt stand Americans anymore, but then I read about how he signs more autographs for fans than any other actor. Johnny Depp just confuses me. I don't know about the sell-out part :)

sell out how? He is very particular on the roles to do. that is smart cause every role he has done is up there. so is he a sell out no he is smart thinking. He finds the roles that he knows he can deliver that is intelligent if you ask me.

that is more of a rock star term, but yes he did because that is the point of becoming successful at anything you have to sell out of all of your product or skill or talent or you would be unemployed
