Who else hate the english names for CardCaptor Sakura?

Also tell me why.
I HATE teh eng names, why would anyone choose Madison Taylor over Tomoyo Daidouji, or Sakura Avalon over Sakura Kinomoto, or Julien over Yukito, or Tori over Touya, or Showron over Shaoran/Syaoran, this could go on if i watched more of the eng anime, but i didnt and i dont care, since in my opinion the jap version is so much better, whos with me?

I hate dubbed anime for the same reason. Perhaps they find Madison Taylor a easier name for native english speaker to remember and associate with.

Chances that english speaker remember Madison Taylor or Sakura Avalon might be higher than Tomoyo Daidouji or Sakura Kinomoto. Pronouncing it might also be a problem especially for the younger audience.

For me, I do not mind if there's a slight change to the name if it causes difficulties in dubbing (matching the "lips"). However, changing the name completely is a bit too much for me. English dub shouldn't have much problem on that, since the name fits into the language rather well.

Chinese dub for example translate Sakura to Xiao Ying. The direct translation of Sakura (Ying Hua) will be odd and "Xiao" which means "small" fits into Sakura's character rather well too.

Another thing that they should considered is the origin of the character. If the character is suppose to be an asian, please let the name remain "asian-like". They should really consider the culture/background/characterisitic of the character before even thinking of changing the name.

In additional, the names selected are related to each character.
Yukito Tsukisiro holds the meaning of snow rabbit (yukito) and moon (tsuki or yue) which explains his role as a moon guardian and his fav colour, white.

Tomoyo Daidouji holds the meaning of friends and world which represent the "friendship aspect" between her and Sakura.

Sakura and Touya hold the meaning cherry blossom and peach blossom, indicating the "sibling" relationship.. as well as the "sakura" cards..

You can hardly find the relationship in the english name choosen. I bet they will change Sakura's name too if not for the "Sakura cards" and there's no alternative name for cherry blossom in english.

Just like the way they dumbed down the plot by taking out all the romance and relationships and made the story about just the card battles, they dumbed down the names to make them easier/more familiar for Americans.

The whole "Cardcaptors" mess is right up there with Robotic (actually, a worse butchering as far as I'm concerned) as awful. Fans generally revile it. I hate it because it's not like Americans absolutely can't deal with Japanese names --we have Japanese-Americans here! We drive Suzukis and Kawasakis and so we can handle a girl named Kinomoto or Daidouji.

I'm glad you didn't watch more of the English version. I watched two discs and that was two discs too many. I'm forever scarred by hearing Tomoyo give a valley-girl "what-ever!" answer to something Shaoran said. The episodes are all out of order and, as I said earlier, they ripped out all the relationship and character development pieces that makes a huge part of why people LOVE that show.

I guess they pretty much want it to be americanized or something. Not only CCS is a victim. I think One Piece and Det.Conan suffers the same situation as well.

I don't see why their names had to be changed but there must be a reason.
For otakus like us, it's an outrage, naa? ^_~

I hate if they change the anime character from japanese to english. The way they change the name is too wierd for me.
I hate if the anime being subbed to another language than japanese. I love the seiuyuu voice.
