Sometimes when i sleep for too long, i try to wake up then i can't. I am totally conscious and aware of everything that is happening around me. When i was younger it would happen i would hear people having conversations around me but i just could not wake up. I would be screaming in my mind for someone to touch me so that maybe this would stop. Then when i would finally move, my eyes would be so heavy that i could not wake up fast enough and it would start all over again. Sometimes I'm so afraid when this happens that i "close my eyes while my eyes are closed" so that i won't see anything coming towards me and i can't do anything about it. After a while i would finally wake all the way up in extreme panic and wash my face and eyes so that i won't try to go back to sleep. The last time this happened was yesterday but it wasn't as bad as all the others because sometimes i can control it better and jump straight up when i realize that it's about to happen. Has this happened to you before?

You're describing a condition called Sleep Paralysis.

I've never experienced it, but I am told that it is extremely frightening to experience.

Unfortunately, I do not have any expertise in sleep disorders, but I would encourage you to bring this up with your doctor.

A link is below & though I've not read it to verify the info, it should probably give you a start in researching this.

Good luck.

i think your conscious mind wakes up before your own body realises that you are awake. When we sleep our body releases paralytics into the blood stream at very low amounts so we do not get up and walk off or anything while we are sleeping. Sleepwalkers do not have enough of the paralytic and apparently you have too much. There isn't anything i think can be done about it. When we are about to wake up our body is able to resume control. In your case I'm assuming that this takes longer for you so you are actually awake when your body is unable to move. I would still get it checked out.

Oh yes, that happens to me when I sleep during the day time. I am aware of my surroundings and feel my heart jumping in my chest. It is as if I were dead, but my mind still functions. There are some articles that may help you understand what is going on.
I kept looking for information and found out that this is called sleep paralysis.

Sometimes it happens to me too... but only when I am in some abnormal state - depression, fallen sick, etc. Also happened a few times at the early stage of pregnancy. I just know it's not normal. My problem is probably related to my double brain concussion. What's your problem - let the doctor decide.

I think I know what you are saying. It's like your trying to wake up and you can't. I hear like a buzzing noise and sometimes I jerk. It's like your half asleep and half awake.
If that is what you are talking about I do it and been doing it for years. I'm 33 and still here. I think it's stress related. ??

You could be having some sleep paralysis episodes. They are usually harmless, but if they are really bothersome for you, you can talk to your doctor about them. I suppose it could be narcolepsy too, but I don't know too much about that. But I suffer from sleep paralysis sometimes and that sounds like what it is to me.

It's happened to me too, I just thought it was normal. Some times would be worse than others and during those times I would wear earplugs so I could determine what my head was saying without all of the other noise.

This happened to me alot when I was in my 20's. Mostly when I was really tired and it was very hot.
Don't sleep in the heat. Get a fan.
It's also a sign of depression.

I tried to read your whole question, but in the middle of it, I fell asleep; when I wake up, I'll fill you in on what happened.
