And why do they always poke fun at government employees and their leisure time? The reason I ask this is because the other day I went to buy a chair for my computer desk and the sales man at the store tried to sell me what they called a "government chair". When I asked him why they called it that he said that it was because it reclined back, was made of comfortable leather and had wheels.

I suppose this is due to the general public's lack of faith in our government....and a general consensus that most are lazy...and don't mind spending tax dollars squanderously..clock watcher would mean that ....if they work 9 to 5...they clock out at 5 on the dot...or close the doors exactly at 5 oclock...they work only as hard as they have to and do not go out of their way to make an extra effort...this probably comes from the long slow lines at the driver's licence office and the lack of urgency many of them show....yes there are certainly those who are guilty...but I think for the most part..it is a thankless job and they stay pretty status quo

whynotaskdon is right. But kidding aside, if the government employees are better paid that private firms, we will have a better-performing government. The sad thing is, the government employees themselves make fun out of it without realizing the damage. Example is since they are lowly paid, why hurry, they are doing their job parallel with what they get.

There are government stereotypes just like there are used car salesman stereotypes. Using these stereotypes are usually designed to make the bigot feel superior. It just reveals their ignorance and insecurity.
Though a government employee, I know many and almost every one is a conscientious, moral person who does their best to serve their countrymen courteously, effectively, and efficiently.

I don't think so missy, ask any Postman how leisurely his route is, what time he goes to work and what time he gets home at night. Hell their all overworked and underpaid. How about the US soldiers in Iraq, what do they get $2.70 per hour to risk getting blown to bits! Naw, a government worker can get bored to death or shot to death and everything in between. For what, chump change!

Because politics and lawyers have made it virtually impossible to fire even the most worthless worker from a government job....so they kick back and collect a paycheck waiting for their bosses to figure out a way to fire them.....which doesn't happen....often times the worthless workers get promoted just to get them out of a certain division.....and the piece ends up in a decision making position....which is why....

it is soooooooooooooooo important for everyone to VOTE!!!!!!
