I got news for you. You're already a musician if you write your own songs and play a musical instrument. But if you're asking how to get it out there, make yourself known. Spread your music to people (make sure you copyright first). There's a radio station here in Toronto that has an indie show every saturday night with an audience. I don't know if you live here, but it's worth taking a look at to see if there're other stations out there who does the same thing. Good luck!

Go to bars and ask the manager if you can play. Once you play, if people like what they hear, you could be asked back and get paid or get free drinks.ALSO You could be at the right place at the right time and get discovered.

play anywhere u can. they have talent searches, competitions, try to get on night at the apollo. anywhere where there is an audience or theres people is where you wanna play
